the $1 DIY

that's right. $1. you know how I looooove a bargain!
This DIY isn't actually that big of a deal, since it's just 1 little step, but still. I thought it was worth sharing.

Alright: you ladies know about the recent "nerd/hipster glasses" craze? Well, glasses like this are selling from $10+...and granted $10 isn't that much, but seeing as how you can get the same look for a $1, I think that's pretty pricey...and I don't think I'll ever wear these as an accessory but as a photo shoot prop or just for fun around the house.

Here's how I got the same look for $1:
Dollar Store Sunglasses. Buy a cute pair (yes, ladies: they exist!) and pop out the lenses. Voila! Now you're looking cute and trendy, without having to empty out your pocketbook.

Also, I thought I'd leave you with a laugh. Maybe these glasses are too much fun. (I left out the nerdiest pictures [believe it or not...] they were even more embarrassing than these...haha!)

have fun (and have a lovelee day!)

10 tips for the class of 2012

I decided to dedicate this post to all you graduating seniors this year. I've listed my top 10 things I wish I would have known or thought about before my freshman year. Some of them are obvious, but I think most are helpful hints.
this one would have been very helpful. You can still make your room/dorm cute without a ton of stuff that you're just going to have to hall back at the end of the year. (see #7)
there are so many functions and parties on campus that offer free food. Take advantage of as many as possible--especially when your funds are running low and you need food. Yes, this happened to me.
By this, I mean between school time and social time. Both are very important, and you definitely need both in moderation. Too much of one will lead to lower performance in the other.
This is important to remember. I tried SO hard not to look like a freshman. I memorized maps, I studied school and bus schedules. But in the end, you will look like a deer-in-the-headlights freshman your first year.
your roommates are a HUGE part of your life in college. Make sure that you love them, and if you don't--change! It's never too late to tell your Hall adviser/etc. that you don't feel comfortable with them.
Adding to what I said in #5, I would like to clarify that it is not enough to love them, but to keep loving them. Problems will come up, trust me. But make sure that your friendship is strong enough to overcome your spats. Also, DON'T hold grudges. It's not worth it!
Just like I said in #2, don't just pack up all your life posessions and haul them off with you. Throw away, give away--your dorm will be much smaller than your room at home. I made the mistake of taking just about everything I own and let me tell you, it was a pain to pack it all up and move it back.
I wish I would have gotten more involved--I was able to get involved through playing in the Phil and in my quartet, but I wish I would have branched out a bit more. It makes a huge difference when you have friends in your classes.
It is such a stress reliever to hear the voice of people you love--and your parents have some excellent advice, let me tell you!
it is so hard to catch up in college--because the work just keeps piling up. Your spare time will be be turned into "catching up time" if you're not careful.

hope that helps, and I hope you have a lovelee day!

7 things to love about me, part 8

Hello, friends! Here's my set of answer's for this week's installment of Gentri's 7 Questions:
Funny Picture of the Week:
iPiccy: Loading picture
this is my little sister Rachel and me at a vocal point concert (remember them from "the sing off"? Well they go to my college, so they put on a concert and they are fiiiiine. So attractive. we were SOOOO excited (do you see that look on my face?? haha)

1. You are stuck somewhere you really don't want to be, do you- walk home, call a friend, or stick it out?
I'd call my mom and tell her to tell me I need to come home! haha:)

2. Do you like to PLAY sports?
With my family, yes. We have a fun little turkey bowl tradition, and it's always really funny playing games with so many girls and then one manly man. Otherwise, definitely not....this girl has little to no coordination, although I am rather amazing at wii tennis. Just sayin' :)

3. Everyone has that one "different" song that they secretly love- what's yours?
I really love that old song, "Brand New Key". I fell in love with it while it played in a car comnmercial, and then I had to search everywhere to find the name:) It's a good one!

4. What is one thing you feel you are really good at?

I'm really good with children--it's probably because I never truly grew up. If a little kid asked me to go play dolls or dress ups, etc with them, I'd be all over that:) I feel like I'm really good at talking to and understanding them.

ALSO: while I was writing that, my mom told me that I'm also good at making really weird faces. We all remember this collage of pictures, right? :)

5. A dog is running in your direction and barking loudly- what do you do?
SCREAM AND RUN AWAY! :) I'm a little bit of a scardie cat. I really love dogs, but maybe since we never had any pets growing up, I'm just not used to and don't understand their different behaviors.

6. Star gazing or cloud watching?

Star Gazing! I love warm nights on a blanket, looking up at the sky. I actually did it last night with one of my best friends! So many great memories.

7. What time of the day do you feel the most productive?
I am definitely a middle of the day person. I'm cranky in the morning and I'm sleepy at night, but I am the happiest and most productive Lauren Elizabeth between 11 and 5.
Well, I hope you all have a quite lovelee day! I have bunches to do with my "send something good" package:)

Good for a Giggle

I've been a busy bee today getting some of my "send something good" projects done, so I thought that today I'd just pop in and share a funny video that's had me laughing for a while now:

isn't he so funny? My favorite part is when he says "ah! he said my full name!" because it's true--when I hear my full name, I know that I'm getting in trouble...

In other news, I spent a great day with my dear Marmie. She's just the best. We went out to lunch together--it's so nice to have that kind of time now that finals are over, let me tell you:)

also, I currently have this all over me right now. In multiple colors.

why, you ask?  well that's a secret:) check back later this week for some exciting news!

have a lovelee day, I'm off to do some super secret shopping!
