Happy Christmas Eve! +Freebies

Hello everyone! I've been a bit of a naughty poster lately. With Christmas festivities and prepping for my sister's wedding, the Esplin house has been a little crazy lately. But the good crazy, you know? Anyways, I thought I'd spread a little Christmas cheer with these painted, hand-lettered Christmas printable freebies. Use them as wrapping paper. Use them as a gift tag. Heck, give it as a gift. Just add a frame! Haha! :)

 personal/non-commercial use only, please!

Have a lovelee CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!

Quote of the Week

My computer was being dumb and wouldn't let me use the usual "quote of the week" font, but I still had to share this quote from Calvin Coolidge. I just love it! The real spirit of Christmas is to be plenteous in mercy and to cherish peace and good will. What a good reminder!

have a lovelee Monday!

the Best-Gosh-Darn-Chocolate-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies

The other day I was in a rather silly mood and decided that my tummy suddenly craved cookies. I googled "the best gosh darn cookie", because it seemed like a good idea in an attempt to find the perfect cookie to satisfy my cookie cravings. Only there was only one result: A bacon cookie. bacon. What?! Obviously, I had to remedy this. And thus, the Best Gosh Darned Chocolate Chip Cookie was born.
Y o u  w i l l  n e e d :
1 C Butter, Softened
1 1/2 C Sugar
2 Eggs
2 tsp Vanilla
2 C Flour
2/3 C Cocoa Powder
3/4 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Salt
2 C Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

D i r e c t i o n s :

Preheat oven to 350*. (Somehow I always forget to do this. Always.)

In large bowl, beat your butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; stir into the butter mixture until well blended. Mix in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Form small balls and drop on to an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8-10 minutes. Make sure not to over cook them or they'll loose their soft, ooey gooey texture. Which happens to be one of the best parts about cookies, if you ask me.

Let them cool a little on the cookie sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
Speaking from experience, you might want to take a bite at this point. Because they are mm-mm-good.

For a fun variation, I added some crushed up oreo chunks to a few of my dough balls. Pretty good stuff.

And there you have it. The Best Gosh Darn Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies your taste buds will ever experience. You can call them the BGDCCCC for short. (does that remind anyone else of this?)
*note: I was inspired by a recipe which can be found here.

have a lovelee day!

Ps- I'm home for the holidays!!

Making Good Photos Great

I am the proud new owner of my very first nice camera. (a Canon rebel T2i) I've been having so much fun snaping pictures of just about everything, and I wanted to share an easy way (3 steps, guys!) I always use to edit my photos. I've put together this little video for you guys to show you how crazy easy it is to make your photos look a lot more polished. It's under 2 minutes. Cummon. You know you want to watch it.

*note* I used photoshop (cs5.1) for this process. But let me tell you, it's not as scary as I used to think it was. I'll show you everything you need to know in the video, so fret not! If you're still a little weary of the big bad photoshop monster, you can get the same sort of results by using free photo editing websites (such as this or this) but you have to use their specific filters, which is kind of lame sometimes.

(if the video is super blurry for you, hit the "watch on youtube" button, and then change the resolution)

Photos edited using this easy 3-step technique.
Isn't my nephew too too cute? See more of him here.
(this one of me was used for a white elephant gift. I signed, kissed, and framed it. They LOVED it!)

Works like a charm, right? I hope you have a lovelee day!

ps- Happy 12/12/12! 12 happens to be my very favorite number. So this is kind of a big deal for me. Also because it means that I am exactly one month away from turning 20. 20! I'm practically ancient.

Doodled Mugs: a DIY (revisited)

Hello, friends! I wanted to pop in today to share a recent project. I feel like I haven't shared a tutorial in ages....sorry about that. Life has been quite the crazy ride lately. But ONE MORE WEEK until Christmas break. Oh yeah!!

I made these mugs for my sweet sister Shaunelle's bridal shower. I am so happy for her, and I wanted to make something special to celebrate her very special wedding. I decided to personalize some mugs. I used this tutorial (that I shared here.) She really liked them, and Matt (her finace) did, too. He's so sweet about making a big deal about things that I make. It makes me feel good.

This was my favorite detail. Their initials and the year of their marriage (on the 28th of this month! ah!)

Really, this project couldn't be easier:

Materials needed:
Mug(s), sharpie, oven

Draw your design on your mug and cook for 30 minutes at 350* F

Here's a new tip for when you're making your own: be SO careful when you take them out of the oven after they bake. Don't let your oven mitts touch your design or it will smear. Terribly. (I learned this back when I made my first set in June. But I forgot to mention that little detail...better late than never, right?)

*And remember: These mugs are hand wash only.

have a lovelee day!

Mr. Matthew Man

I just wanted to do my Auntly duty of bragging about my sweet, adorable nephew. Which isn't really that hard when he's THIS STINKING ADORABLE! I got some sweet photos of him during my sister Shaunelle's bridal shower this past Saturday. Seriously. Do babies come any cuter? Probably not.

this one makes me smile. He's got the "looking dramatically into the distance" down at 5 months...I'm a little Jealous!  I can't even do it! And I'm 20 years older than him! Good thing he's so cute handsome

Isn't my sister Briana beautiful? I think so too.

Have a lovelee day!
