Flight 93 Memorial

I'm a little embarrassed that this has been sitting in the draft pile of my posts, but as was quite obvious, I took a much needed, unannounced break. The following is a collection of photos from when I visited my sister Shaunelle in Pittsburgh (in August), and we saw the beautiful and inspiring Flight 93 Memorial.

I was so inspired by this beautiful place. I felt such a special spirit here as I read the plaques and observed the beauty of the surroundings.
Everything was kept so perfectly, which I felt was very respectful to the hero's memory.
If you want to learn more about the memorial, you can visit their website.
This wall was my very favorite part. I love what it symbolizes, and that it so respectfully shields the area where the hero's final remains lay.
The spirit of patriotism was so strong here. I was so inspired by the bravery of those extraordinary men and women. They chose to act, knowing their fate. I am so proud to call myself an American, and be protected by such brave servicemen and women, as well as ordinary citizens who are willing to step up and serve.

God Bless America.

have a lovelee day!

ps- Happy New Year's Eve!

how are you going to celebrate?

Lauren, the font: Freebie

That's right. Today I am sharing a portion of myself to you. I'm starting to get really into this font-creating thing.

This is kind of a "rough draft" of what I want the finished product to look like, because I'm still working out the kinks. But hey, this one is pretty fun, too! Enjoy!

Also, I made a Giraffe....

I happened upon White Faux Taxidermy, and I fell in love. IN. LOVE. Especially with this buffalo. Man, oh man. If I weren't a starving college student, you know that would be in my living room right now.

I did a t-o-n of research on paper mache, and I figured out what would work best for this project. I had a few helpers construct the neck for me (made from rolled up, cut-and-mended cardboard, actually) and I sculpted the face/ears/etc. I've never really been a sculpture gal myself, so it was fun to try something new.

Well, quite a few weeks later, my favorite animal, the majestic Giraffe emerged. We call him Jeffers 'round these parts. After the illustrator, you know. (I am a little obsessed with his work.)

He is now painted a lovely shade of whitish-cream, and I love him soooo much.  We mounted him on a piece of wood and he will soon be hung on the wall. HOORAY! (I need to get a good picture of him painted. I'm not sure why I haven't gotten around to that yet.....)

I got around to that.

Have a lovelee day!

Recent Paintings

I really struggle with calling myself an artist. I'm not sure why, but I feel like I'm being super stuffy or something when people ask me what I like to do, and I say, "Oh, I like to draw and paint and stuff..." But I do.

I don't do art to feel artsy. I do art because it is something that heals my soul, and truly completes me. I am my whole me when I am creating. is a recent collection of some things I've been working on.

"inspired by a scarf"

"hello sunshine"

Merry Christmas!

Happy Christmas Eve! As my present to you, enjoy this little animation that my sister and I worked on yesterday. (also, the fact that after a 3-month hiatus, I finally posted again. You're welcome, mom.)
Have a lovelee day! (and Christmas!)
